Come join us for a Saturday October gathering involving food and art at Woodland Biscuit Company. A hands-on painting class led by Mark Elliot, a talented artist and beloved Park City High School art teacher that is living his passion and just so happens to adore Woodland Biscuit Company. After meeting with Mark, listening to him talk about his passion, looking at his sketchbook and capturing my heart with his Woodland Biscuit love, I wanted to take a class! So here we are… -L
Mark Elliot began his formal art training in San Franscisco at The Academy of Art. After twelve years of painting, drawing, exploring streets and back alleyways, teaching and producing art Elliot found his way back to Utah. Reluctant to make it a full round, he and his family settled in Heber, then the Park City area.
As an art educator Elliot strives to meet his students where they are and help them from there. “In any art course of his, perfection, exactitude, or precision are rarely the goal. The big idea is. The challenge often set is this; Can you see past the details, the clutter, the distractions to what is essential to this scene? Can you quiet your mind and your eyes, to allow for your hand to take action, and capture the essence of your subject? If yes, come paint with us. If not, please come paint with us. All skill levels are invited. All have something to learn or share.”
This course will allow students to bring in some of their favorite landscape photography to use as personal reference. Supplies and instruction will be provided by Elliot in collaboration with Woodland Biscuit Co. Each student will have a painting station set with an easel, canvas board, brushes, and paint. This introductory $65 three hour class will be taught in acrylic and is open to anyone 16 years old and up.
Come ready to explore your creativity and share biscuits, charcuterie and cheese in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Woodland Biscuit Company, and leave with your own unique artwork to take home.
